Hey.
Here's some pictures.
This is Darmstädter Straße, where my host father's apartment is. It seems to be one of the quieter parts of town even though it's only a couple blocks from the Kurfürstendamm, which is essentially Berlin's version of Broadway; big, loud and expensive.
There are all kinds of cars that you don't see anywhere in the US; here's a VW van and a Renault. The list goes on: Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, SEAT and so forth. I even saw a Ford model that doesn't exist in America. Go figure.
It's a little hard to see here but the font for their street signs is kind of awesome.
Here's the local subway station; their transit system makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE than anything in America; one big loop (the Schnellbahn or S-bahn) and a bunch of little lines that go back and forth (the Untergrundbahn or U-bahn). It's just easier to figure out this way.
Was?
The subway signs kind of remind me of NYC, though.
Again a little hard to see, but I wasn't sure if I'd get another shot at this one. If you need a little help, the decal says "Scuderia Berlin." Only in Europe would a Mini be used to advertise for a Ferrari dealership. Incidentally, there are TONS of expensive car dealerships along the Ku'damm and they make me covetous.
That's all for today, folks, but rest assured that there will be much, much more where that came from. Bis später!
Oh man, your pictures are making me nostalgisch. :-)
